Recovering now but will keep the post sort & sweet. The papers are from K & Co McKenna collection and the Tilda image has been watercoloured. I have added a few Zoomz from my stash as well.

High Hopes and Friday Sketchers challenges

High Hopes challenge this week was "distressing". I have used papers from the Basic Grey Porcelain pad which are just fantastic. I distress the edges of the card and the mat that the image is on. The image is from Whiff Of Joy's Spring Collection and I have coloured her with Distress Inks. The flowers are made using my retro Flower Punches and brads from my stash.

The Friday Sketchers sketch was not the usual square so I have made an A6 card for a change. The papers are again from the delicious Basic Grey Porcelain collection. The image is the stamp that came with Craft Stamper this month and was designed by friend Hels. I have coloured him in with watercolour pencils and punched him out, inking up the circle edges. The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up! Oval All set and is punched out with their new Scalloped Oval punch then coloured with chalk ink. If you would like to get your hands on these SU goodies then I can order them for you, just give me a shout. The flowers were punched out using my retro Flower punches and secured with brads.

Just Magnolia First Challenge

Just Magnolia is a new challenge sit which launched last Friday. The DT are such a talented bunch and I just adore their projects. The challenge was a sketch and what a fab sketch it was. I had to rotate it to fit the image but I think it works. The gorgeous papers are from Basic Grey Bittersweet collection. I coloured Tilda with my Derwent Inktense pencils and matted her on some of the DP as well, leaving a tiny border. I attached Tilda to the card using foam pads. The sentiment is a HOTP stamp and the flowers and gems are from my stash. There is a fabulous prize up for grabs to celebrate the launch of Just Magnolia, go check it out, the link is in my sidebar.
I have made some tags for a swap I am involved in. Here is one of them. I inked up the tag with Tattered Rose Distress Ink and then stamps a swirly Tim Holtz background in Worn Lipstick. The Gorjuss image was stamped and watercoloured, cut out and adhered to the tag. The butterfly charm was from the lovely Jill at Hobby House and the flower, brad and ribbon are from my stash. I also added Glossy Accents to the little clip in her hair but I doubt you will be able to see that.

Mojo Monday challenge

This is my first attempt at this challenge but it was a lovely sketch so I thought I'd give it a go. I had a card to make for a friend who has just had the gift of another granddaughter so thought the Tilda image would be perfect. The papers are Basic Grey Bittersweet, such a fab collection. I watercoloured Tilda and then mounted her on foam dots. The ribbon, flower and brad are from my stash.

High Hopes/Cute Card Thursday challenges

The challenge at High Hopes this week was to use piercing on your project. I have used the Gorjuss- Sitting stamp which I just love. I coloured her with my Derwent Inktense and then matted her on some patterned paper and blue Bazzill which were cut from my Nesties. ( I totally love these and need some more sets I think!)I pierced all around the edge of the blue Bazzill but you may have to click on the image to get a closer look at it. The papers are from the K & Co Amy Butler Belle pad and I added a couple of glass beads to finish. Haven't put a sentiment on yet, can't decide who to send it to

This weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge was Floral Fantasy, you had to use flowers in your project. I used some lovely K & Co paper covered in roses and one of my new Gorjuss stamps. The image is watercoloured and matted onto some gold card. I placed it on some foam pads to give it a little lift. The scalloped sentiment is from Stampin' Up! set Oval All and is punched out with the SU oval scalloped punch. I stamped the sentiment in Stazon Blazing Red. Finally I added a couple of small flowers with a gold spacer in the centre.

The Sugar Bowl is Gorjuss/ Friday Sketchers

For this week's Friday Sketchers challenge I have used Daisy from Sugar Nellie. I watercoloured her and matted her on some pink Bazzill which i cut using my Nestabilities. The paper is from Sparkly Sweet from K & Co. The swirls were punched from pink Bazzill using my Swirl punch from EK Success. Flowers, ribbon, spacer and brad all from stash and the sentiment is a HOTP stamp.

I got some Gorjuss stamps at last on Easter Monday when paid a visit to the home of Sugar Nellie. It is an amazing shop and if you ever get the chance to go to Elgin, you must visit.
This week's challenge over at The Sugar Bowl was a sketch. I have used the most gorgeous K & Co papers from the Blue Awning Speciality Pad. They were almost too pretty to cut up but I took a deep breath and went for it. Gorjuss- Just a girl is coloured with Derwent Inktense pencils and matted on some navy Bazzill cardstock. I have followed the sketch and then added a flower made from the papers and my retro flower punches, held together with a gold brad. I have taken a close up of the image as well, but don't look too closely :0)

Sketch Saturday

What a fab Sketch this week although I have had to rotate it to fit my image. The paper is from Basic Grey Marrakech, image is Whiff of Joy, including the tree stump.I stamped Oakley first, then masked him and stamped the tree stump to look as if he is sitting on it. I then watercoloured the image and matted it on Chocolate Chip cardstock from Stampin' Up! Again using Choc Chip I made a mat with scalloped sides using an SU stamp and added a strip of green Bazzill. This was attached to the card and then finished off with some flowers and a green brad from stash along with a gorgeous spacer(first time I've used them) which I got from Hobby House. Thank you Bev for pointing me in the right direction for these. I then glued some Zoomz along top and bottom of the card per the sketch.Apologies for the poor photo, I need one of those light tent thingies I think :0)

High Hopes & UKS challenges

The High Hopes challenge this week was a sketch- my favourite kind! I have used papers from Basic Grey Marrakech, ooh I like these. The stamp and sentiment are High Hopes and are coloured with my Derwent Inktense pencils.
I am so bad at managing the weekly challenges for my team on UKS. This is the first layout I have done in ages. You had to use a photo that made you laugh, 5 embellies, some sparkle and a quote by Oscar Wilde. I managed the first three but none of the quotes I read seemed to fit so I won't get maximum points. The paper is Basic Grey, Oh Boy and I have covered all the numbers 8 & 4 with Rhinestone Stickles as these were the boy's ages at the time the photo was taken. That counts for the sparkle although i don't know if you will make it out. I matted the photo on some yellow Bazzill which I punched around with my SU Scalloped Edge Punch. The journalling is again on the yellow Bazzill and I used my new Basic Grey journalling stamps. The 5 embellies are the little Zoomz below the picture.

Truly Scrumptious/Spoonful of Sugar

The latest Truly Scrumptious challenge was a sketch and Flower Power. I used a High Hopes image of the cutest rabbit. He was watercoloured and then matted on a large oval cut from my new Nestabilities. These are my first set and I can see I will need more ;0)
The papers are from HOTP. You may be wondering where the "Flower Power" is? Well, it is very subtle with some flower gems and daisies on the strip of paper across the card. Hope that's enough to qualify. The sentiment is also from High Hopes.

The Spoonful of Sugar challenge this week was a fabulous sketch. It also gave me the chance to ink up one of my newest SN images, Rory. The papers are HOTP and some co-ordinating Bazzill CS. I punched the flowers from the same papers using my small Retro Flower punch and placed a black brad in the middle of each. I added some Zoomz along the top and then some dots of Stickles in accordance with the sketch. Rory is watercoloured using my Derwent Inktense pencils. I rounded the corners of the image and mounted him on foam pads.

Three challenges in one day

For the Friday Sketchers challenge I thought I would take the opportunity to make use of some new products that will be launched by Stampin' Up! on Wednesday 1st April. There is a new mini catalogue coming out and I got a couple of things on pre-order.
The cardstock used is Sage Shadow for the main card and scalloped circle, with Barely banana for matting and the sentiment. The gorgeous little Bambi image is from the Forest Friends stamp set and I punched him out with the SU Scalloped Circle punch. The ribbon is Old Olive grosgrain by SU and the sentiment is from the new Oval All set and is punched out using the new Scalloped Oval punch.

For the Sketch Saturday challenge I again decided to make use of my new SU sets. The cardstock is from the Soft Subtles range, Sage Shadow and Barely Banana, with the scalloped circle in Old Olive. The owl and leaves/trees are from the Forest Friends stamp set. The ribbon strip is Old Olive grosgrain and the flowers, brads & pearls are from the SU Pretties kit. Finally the sentiment is from the new Oval All stamp set and is punched out using the new Scalloped Oval punch.
The Sugar Bowl challenge was to make a Spring themed card. I think of flowers and butterflies when I think of Spring so I have used backing paper full of butterflies on my card. This was a free gift with making Cards mag and is designed by Nancy Watt. The Pen Pal image from Sugar Nellie was watercoloured and then I inked the edges with a Promarker and mounted her on foam pads. I popped some little flowers at each corner of the image. The sentiment is from the new Stampin' Up! set Oval All and I have punched out the sentiment with the Scalloped Oval SU punch.I also inked around the sentiment with the Promarker.
If you would like to get your hands on any of these new products, give me a shout and I can order them for you.

Sugar Sugar cracked glass

The technique over on Sugar Sugar for March is "cracked glass". I have used a lovely Sugar Nellie image by Leanne Ellis and watercoloured her. I then embossed the image with thick embossing powder and popped it in the freezer. When I took it out you simply crack the image. The papers used are from HOTP. I added a strip of Bazzill and some felt trim before mounting the image on Black Magic cardstock from Core'dinations. I sanded the edges to reveal the tiniest hint of pink. The image was then attached to the card with foam pads. I will add the sentiment later when I decide what occasion to use the card for.

Here is a card I made for a work colleague who gets married in a couple of weeks. The template is from Colour My World and I have used papers and embellishments from Creative Imaginations. I bound the letters with my Bind-it-All and attached some ribbons. Finally I added some flowers punched from retro flower punches. She loved it.

Truly Scrumptious/Charmed card

The sketch aver at the Truly Scrumptious challenge is fabulous. I had to make a card for a friend's birthday. I also spotted a competition over on Charmed Cards & Crafts where you have to submit coloured images- I have downloaded the image from their website, isn't she sweet?
The papers are HOTP and the CS is Bazzill. I used my Scalloped Edge punch from Stampin' Up!, some sticky pink ribbon from Anita's and Primas with a pearl brad in the centre. The image was watercoloured with Derwent Inktense pencils.

UKS weekly challenge/ Thomas the tank

This week's challenge was to use 12 or 1 of something, I have used one chipboard heart. Stamping had to feature so the swirls are stamped in all four corners using HOTP clear stamps. You had to use contrasting colours, I've opted for green & brown. I have just checked it again and you were meant to use ransom alphas as well so I failed on that score but not to worry. The photos show my boys meeting their new cousin for the first time.

A friend asked me to make a card for her little boy who is crazy about Thomas the Tank Engine. This was what I came up with and I hope he likes it.

Sugar Bowl and Cute Card Thursday challenges

The current challenge over a the Sugar Bowl is to make something for Mother's Day. I decided to make a card keeper for my mum which I can fill with some handmade cards for her to use for her friends. I got the instructions from The Scrapbook Lounge ages ago but never got round to using them. The papers I have used are by Dovecraft and the cardstock is Bazzill. I have used one of the Sugar Nellie stamps by designer Leanne Ellis and coloured the image with watercolour pencils. Isn't she sweet? The ribbon is Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip grosgrain. I then made some flower embellishments using Retro Flower punches and some gold brads.

This week's sketch over at Cute Card Thursday was great. I decide to use it to make a Mother's Day card for my mum-in-law. The papers are Sparkly Sweet by K & Co and the cardstock is Bazzill. The Tilda image was wateroloured using my Derwent pencils and the little piece of ribbon is from my stash.

What I did yesterday!

I had a great day through in Elgin where finally I got to meet some of the people I have been chatting to on UKS. They were having a weekend at a very grand house about an hour from here so I went to spend the day with them. One of the girls, Fiona, taught me how to make this paper wreath. The papers I have used are Figgy Pudding by Basic Grey and pages from an old book. I would like to say a big thank you to Fiona for her help and to all the other girls for being so lovely. I had a great time and will definitely be making some more of these

In at the last minute

I made this card last night for the Truly Scrumptious challenge from last Wednesday so I hope I have entered in time. The challenge was to follow a sketch and also to have handmade buttons on your project. I used the gorgeous Urban Prairie papers by Basic Grey again and another Paperbag Studios stamp. I love this plate of stamps but still need to buy it. These images were very kindly stamped by a friend for me. I have coloured the image with Distress Inks(am liking the effect you get with them)
The buttons have been made using pink Bazzill CS. I cut little circles which are not perfect by any means, pierced little holes in them and threaded through some fine ribbon. I still have to add a sentiment but didn't have time to look for the stamp I wanted

Friday Sketchers and a special baby card

This week's sketch on Friday Sketchers was a challenge for me but I am really pleased with the way the card turned out. I used Urban Prairie papers by Basic Grey, some co-ordinating strips of Bazzill CS and the image is by Paperbag Studios which I have coloured using Distress Inks. The stamped swirls are by HOTP and I added a Prima flower with a small flower punch from the DP on top, secured with a black brad.I have a few friends with birthdays in March so this card is the first of many needing made this week.

My lovely little nephew is now home and I am desperate to get to see him and have a cuddle. I have used both Messy Rabbits stamps and the Messy Rabbits CD to make this card. The name has been cut using the Quickutz Squeeze and Moxie alphabet.

Been a busy week.

I haven't managed any challenges at all this week as time seemed to run away from me. Here are the three things I did manage to get done. The first is a card using my Messy Rabbit stamps from Joanna Sheen. These are so cute. I wateroloured the images using my Derwent pencils and the paper was a scrap from my stash so I have no idea who it is by I'm afraid.

I bought a bingo board from Poundland for altering. I covered the front with the gorgeous Rustic Gems papers and edged it with Adirondack Dabbers in Gold. On the reverse I used various dabbers blended together. I then coloured a couple of Grungeboard pieces with the gold dabber and attached them to the front of the board using Glossy Accents. It is now winging it's way to a friend and I hope she likes it.

I did find time to use the latest Handbagz board from the Glitter Girls to make a card for my neighbour. The papers used are Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery collection and I used my new Quickutz alphabet for the name and age.
Thanks for dropping by, here's hoping this coming week has more time to craft.

Friday Sketchers & The Sugar Bowl challenge

I enjoyed using this week's sketch and managed to use up some more old papers in my stash. I also got to use a Toodles & Bink's stamp that I won for the first time. I coloured her with my trusty Derwents (just for a change, lol!) and mounted the image on foam pads. I added little pink Dew Drops to finish.

The Sugar Bowl challenge was to use only one patterned paper in your card. I have stamped Chef Hamish by Sugar Nellie and watercoloured him before cutting out. The paper is by Stampin' Up! and I based the card around the sketch from the Truly Scrumptious challenge I did yesterday. The orange cardstock is Bazzill and the gems are from my stash.
