Altered board book

This is my very first attempt at altering a board book. It started life as a Winnie the Pooh story and took me an age to remove the pages. I then covered the pages alternately with Rustic Gems papers and Adirondack Dabbers in Cranberry with some Gold streaked across randomly. Then I took some sticker sentiments about children from a Brenda Pinnick scrapbook kit I have together with some floral embellishments. I arranged these and some photos of my mum, my sister and I and our children on the pages. I then made some ribbon tabs for each page and used some chipboard letter to spell Mum on the front cover. As this is my first attempt, it has its faults but I hope my mum is delighted with it this Mother's Day.

Scrapbook Challenge

Yes, again I am rushing in at the last minute with my page for the February challenge on Craft Swap Forum. Lesley set a challenge of "The Three Rs" - Ripping, Red and Round. You also had to use more than one photo.
I am a newcomer to scrapbooking and have not the first clue when it comes to layouts so I find Lesley's challenges a great place to get ideas. I used the Brenda Pinnick Scrapbook TSV from the end of last year. I ripped one of the 12x12s and layered it down the side. I matted six photos from Christmas day onto co-ordinating papers and the chipboard embellishments are from the kit too. One of them is Red and Round.
I am looking forward to next month to get some more practice :0)

ATC challenge

At the last minute I managed to make an ATC for this weeks challenge on Craft Swap Forum. The challenge was to use "Circles". I have used a circular piece of chipboard, some circular letter stickers and filled in the circles in the middle of the blooms with Stickles in Crystal...oooh, and my brad is a circle too :0)I edged the ATC with Adirondack Dabbers in Bottle

My Time to Craft/Papertake challenges

I made a Fat Page tonight which I decided to use for both of the above challenges. My Time To Craft challenge this week is "Things with Wings" and the Papertake Weekly challenge was to use Blue & Green in your project. I have used paper from Basic Grey Periphery. I used a glue pen to highlight areas and sprinkled a blue/green glitter over it. Finally a blue gem in the centre of the flower and I was done. This page is for a list I am on which is due to complete tomorrow- I am slightly behind.Lets hope I am forgiven :0)

A birthday card

I was asked to make a card by my stepdad. He had no requirements other than the name be on the card. I used paper & stickers from K & Co, Brenda Walton Scrap Pad to Go, pink Bazzill cardstock and some Primas layered and attached with a white brad. I used some Stickles in Crystal to add some sparkle to the flower. I love pink & brown together, hope the recipient does too

Sunday Stampers/ Funky Fairy challenges

This weeks challenge set by Hels on Sunday Stampers had to do with time. The challenge from Funky Fairy was "you've been tagged" so this is my project for both. I made a tag from some plain white cardstock and stamped the pocket watch stamp from Artistic Stamper in pale gold ink. The image was then embossed with clear embossing powder. I then used Distress Inks in Scattered Straw, Broken China and Black Soot and blended them randomly over the tag. Next, I rubbed a baby wipe over the tag until the embossed image showed through. This is the first time I have tried the resist technique, I really like the result.
I then stamped the pocket watch in white Staz-on onto black shrink plastic a few times and shrunk them down. I attached 3 of the shrunken watch images to the bottom of the tag. I took a small piece of mountboard and inked it up using the same colours as used for the tag. I used some peel-off letters, coloured black, on the mountboard to spell out "TIME" and finished the tag off with some co-ordinating ribbon and fibre. I am very pleased with this tag and I get to keep it all to myself as it is part of a techniques project I am doing with a new technique each month. I hope you like it too.

Papernation decoupage

I had to make a birthday card for a friend to give her mum. I have used some of the new Papernation decoupage and backing papers, matted on pearlescent cardstock. I love these images, they are really funky.

My Paperworld Sketch #5

This is the first time I have tried this sketch challenge after finding the link on a forum. I had to make a baby girl card for someone in work. I find these sketches great for inspiring me to layout cards in ways I would never have thought of. I have used pink Bazzill cardstock and paper by K & Co Sparkly Sweet. The embellishments are ones I have had for ages, I think they may be Crafty Bitz but don't quote me. The flower is a Bazzill Bitty Blossom in Chablis Pink, finished with a gem in the centre. I am pleased with the way the card turned out and will be trying this sketching lark again :0)

A busy week

Hi fellow bloggers. Haven't managed to find time to update my blog for almost a week now. I did manage some crafting though and made several cards using Joanna Sheen's Victorian Ladies & Gentleman images. These cards are mainly for Mother's Day. My colleagues have kept me very busy :0)

Another card for a mum

Yet another order from a work colleague.I am delighted, it is lovely that people appreciate your work. I used K & Co papers from a 6x6 pad I have and overlapped them with a torn edge on the top piece. Then I glittered the flowers using Stickles in Crystal. Finally I mounted a piece of pearlescent cardstock onto the card with 3D foam pads and put a Mother's Day peel-off on it.

Papertake Weekly challenge

Yes, I managed to fit in another challenge, this time the project had to have a Spring theme. I decided to opt for colours that remind me of spring. The paper is from K & Co and I used Adirondack dabbers in Citrus & Aqua to colour a piece of cardstock. I then stamped a Paper Artsy image in Ultramarine staz-on onto it and attached a strip of mountboard which had a sentiment stamped on it, again from PA, which I coloured with the Aqua dabber. Finally I edged around the card with a Krylon Brights pen in green.

My Time To Craft challenge

This weeks challenge was to use lace on your project. I didn't think I had any lace so was stumped. Then while looking for fibres for my tags I spotted a lace ribbon...tada!!!! I have used it for a Mother's Day card for my mother-in-law. the papers are K & Co. Hope she likes it.

Another tag with Paper Artsy stamps

This one isn't for a challenge but is the third one I have made for a tag swap. I used Aqua Adirondack dabber to colour the tag, then stamped the images in Staz-on Ultramarine. The sentiment is again stamped on mountboard which I coloured with a Cranberry dabber then covered in Glossy Accents. That's all the tags done, hope the peeps who end up with them like them :0)

Arty Girlz challenge

I have made three tags for a swap. The tags had to be 6" x 3" and the stamps had to be Paper Artsy. Other than that, anything goes. I didn't have any PA stamps so I just hadto buy some (lol). I thought that the green tag would be perfect for the Arty Girlz challenge this week which was to involve GREEN on your project. I have coloured the tag with a Citrus Adirondack dabber. The sentiment is stamped on mountboard coloured with dabber in Gold and then covered in Glossy Accents. I finished the tag off with a green ribbon. This is my first go at this challenge, doubt it will be the last :0)

Sunday Stampers challenge

I decided to make one of my tags for a swap I am in that could be used for the Sunday Stamper challenge which is "Watch the Birdy" this week. I have covered the tag in Copper Adirondack dabbers - the first time I have used this and I love it :0)
The stamps are by Paper Artsy and the fibres were aquired from Craft Obsessions a while ago.

Off men at the moment

Another card ordered by someone in work- they are keeping me busy just now :0)
The card is for her Aunt's birthday. The Aunt is going through a divorce at the moment and is not interested in meeting anyone new at all just now. My colleague jokingly refers to her as Anti Men so asked me to make a card with this on it. I matted some K & Co Hannah paper onto some Bazzill cardstock and used a floral embellishment, also from K & Co. The letters are some stickers I got in a lucky dip so I am not sure who they are by. I edged the Bazzill cardstock with a Krylon pen in Pale Gold and a gold Happy Birthday peel-off completes this card. What a productive afternoon I've had.

Fortieth Birthday Card

Another order from someone in work- her friend is 40 on 29th February. She is quite a girly girl so I thought the Pinkie Pops range by Funky Fairy would be perfect. I stuck the letters on mountboard before cutting them out and layered them down the card. The numbers are from the Brenda Walton Choc Neapolitan pad and I have edged them with black ink to define them a bit more before matting them on black cardstock. Hope she likes it.
